The Dutch en route to the Far East made so many voyages around the Cape of Good Hope that they decided they needed a place of their own there. This program follows the establishment of the Dutch settlement in South Africa, the arrival of enslaved people, the Boers pushing ever deeper into the countryside and the beginnings of apartheid, and traces these strands to current power relations between black and white.
