Dr. Muhammad Yunus, founder of a Bangladeshian banking system which is designed for the poor and extends loans requiring no collateral suggests that before the issue of poverty can be dealt with properly, the term "economic development" must be defined. According to Dr. Yunus, economic development is a process through which the income and the asset ownership of the bottom 15 percent go through positive change. If we can not solve the problem of poverty, we can not live as dignified human beings on earth.
