Contemporary 21st century art in Taiwan shows a great tendency towards juvenile, pluralism and subjectivity. Artists' strategies towards the textural transformation of the contemporary culture tend to be bold applications of games, visual realities, pretensions, deconstruction, anti-realism and sub-realism with which they express their understanding of the world, their concepts of the age, their philosophy of life. Art that is brewed from these hi-tech consumer-age life experiences.
We have chosen 102 artists who have either exhibited their works or have received awards during the 2000-2005 time frame. The basic data for these artists as well as pictures of their representative works with some commentaries are presented on the DVD and website.
In presenting this data base and website, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts anticipates the formation of closer links and more fluent dialogues with the world outside as we facilitate the viewing of contemporary art in Taiwan.
