Note About Browsers and Special Characters
Throughout the Research Notebooks, special characters such as Greek letters and mathematical symbols are represented using HTML Entities. HTML Entities are part of the HTML 4.0 standard and consist of numerical codes that get rendered by the browser as the desired characters. Unfortunately, even some of the most recent browsers have poor support for HTML Entities. Here's a brief overview of how well browsers support HTML Entities:
We recommend using a browser that fully supports HTML entities. Downloads for the browsers listed above are available at CNET's www.browsers.com, Mozilla's homepage or Opera's homepage.
Below is a listing of all of the special characters used in the Linus Pauling Research Notebooks. The numerical entity reference is listed, along with how it displays in your current browser. |
