Dr. A.N. Richards
Committee on Medical Research
2101 Constitution Avenue
Washington 25, D.C.
Dear Dr. Richards:
I have just written to Dr. Vannevar Bush that I accept with pleasure appointment to your Committee, to serve as a member
of a Special Consultant Panel. I am very happy to be able to be of service in this way, and I thank you for thinking of me.
It turns out that it is convenient for me to go to the San Francisco Bay Region next week. I am planning to leave Pasadena
on the morning of Thursday, July 15. This will give me an opportunity to learn something about the OMR contracts in the Northern
California region, and I am writing to ask that, if it is convenient, you send to me by air mail a list of titles of these
contracts and the names of the Investigators. I am planning to go to Stanford University, the Stanford Medical School, the
University of California at Berkeley, and the University of California Medical School in San Francisco.
It is possible that I could meet with Drs. Bloomfield and Naffziger in order to discuss the duties and responsibilities
of the Panel. If such a meeting does take place, perhaps on July 20, we would profit greatly by having your advice and instructions.
I am not planning to come to Washington again for some months, but I am looking forward to seeing you when the time comes.
