Gentlemen:
For some time I have been trying to make arrangements to have some psychological work carried out in connection with
a confidential research problem of value ot the Nation. Work on this problem is being done under contract between the California
Institute of Technology and the Committee on Medical Research of the Office of Scientific Research and Development. Recently
arrangements were made under which this physiological work would be done at the University of Southern California, under the
direction of Professor Drury and Dr. Mehl. Mr. Eli Mozitt, Order No. 2077, has been employed to carry out this work, to which
he is to devote half his time.
We have had difficulty in finding suitably trained men to carry on this war research, and I recommend classification
of Mr. Mozitt in Class II-A for the coming six months' period
Respectfully yours,
Linus Pauling, Chairman
Division of Chemistry and
Chemical Engineering
