11 February 1960
Dear Mamma and Daddy,
Thank you very much for your letter and for the birthday present. I have been worried about you. I can appreciate the hell the night was for both of you. I hope you recover. A long rest is required.
Esmiralda Ermitrude (BGP) was born 8:45 AM Friday, 5 February 1960. 8 lbs., 12 oz after 3 hours 15 minutes labour. She looks rather like Thomas. After getting her head out and without waiting for any more, she started to yell. Fortunately, when she got a hand out she stuck it in her mouth to suck. Julia is fine. Nice rest. So is EE. Thomas and I have colds. We are making do.
Joy Bernal made me a cake. It is good. We did not have a party though. Just candles to blow with the kids.
love from
Peter
