Dr. Linus Pauling, Jr.
3909 Round Top Drive
Honolulu, T. H.
Dear Linus:
Mama and I are looking forward to seeing you soon, and especially to seeing Anita, whom we have not seen for some time.
I believe that Anita asked if there were someone in the Islands that we would like to see during our visit with you. I had hoped to see the new President of the University, but I believe that he will not arrive in Honolulu until 5 January, after we have left.
Do you know Governor Quinn? If you do know him well enough to invite him and his wife to dinner, it might be worthwhile; I should like to see him (I have no business to transact), but I probably shall not try to arrange to go to his office.
I am just getting ready to give a lecture to the freshmen. This one is on inorganic complexes and the Werner coordination theory. Jürg Waser is in charge of general chemistry now, and I have to give only a few of the lectures each year.
Much love from
