Mrs. R. M. Korzen
10229 Baltic Road
Cleveland 2, Ohio
Dear Mrs. Korzen:
I have been interested to read your letter and the project that you submitted to the Fund for Social Analysis.
I think that if I had been an advisor to the Fund I would not have been able to recommend that a grant be made to you, because of considerable uncertainty as to whether or not you would be able to carry out the job that you propose.
Your idea seems to me to be a good one. From your proposal I would say that you might have the ability to write well, but it is not possible to be sure, or even to have moderate assurance. I judge that you do not have any published writings; if you have, you could submit them to show your ability as a writer.
Perhaps you could start by writing an article, suitable for publication, in a magazine. It might represent one chapter of your book. With this publication as a basis, you might well be able to get a grant or to make a contract with a publisher who could be interested in your book.
Have you checked up on the people at Western Reserve University? I do not have anyone to recommend to you, but you might be able to get advice from one of them.
Sincerely yours,
Dictated by Dr. Pauling
