Dear Mamma,
We have moved which was hectic for a bit but is better. I must buy some bookshelves or make some. The flat is quite nice. The central heating is not quite adequate, and my Pauling patent cheap but excellent electric hot air heater is used part of the time. There is no central heating in the bedrooms. Thomas is well and flourishing. The stove is electric and not very big.
I would be interested in how much a new simple open jeep with four wheel drive costs in America. I think you could have the land rover in California for $2100. Perhaps what you should do is to buy a used jeep. It would be much cheaper. Barclay has had and probably knows quite a lot about them.
One WARNING. Jeeps and similar vehicles have a high center of gravity and fairly small track and wheel base; consequently, it is easy to turn them over while driving in hills and ditches and rough steep places. You should be very careful not to drive the car into a position where it might turn over and crush you.
John Kendrew wants the magazine High Fidelity for a year or two to try it out. I have at the moment misplaced the order form, but shall see if I can find it. There is a copy of the magazine in Linda's room. There are several books of Papa's in Linda's room, and a new copy of Regular Polytopes which is mine. The magazines and envelopes of stuff I may have put away, and perhaps even the book.
You must decide what you want to give Kendrew and what I should charge him a credit to your account.
I think the Radial Distribution Curve is in the notebook. If not the calculations are there and it can be redrawn in a few minutes.
I hope you are better. Thank you for having us come see you for Christmas. It certainly was a pleasure. I hope you enjoyed our visit as much as we did.
Love from
Peter
