Saturday
Dear Mom
We think it would be a fine idea for Pete and Julia and what-ever-his-name-is to join the family at Christmas. Why don't you contribute what you can and we'll make up the difference for their fares, and it will be a gift from the whole family. The arrangements can be handled from either end.
Sunday
Your letter arrived yesterday afternoon. The pictures of the ranch look wonderful--it looks like just the right kind of place. Not nearly as ramshackle as I was led to believe, though. We are very anxious to see it. The pictures I am returning now, since if they hang around here no one knows what will happen to them. I also enclose a couple of slides of our house, taken a week or so apart in October. By now the corrugated iron roof is over this section, but the house is still far from complete.
Since you will be gone on your lecture tour with Pop for a while I am going to write Pete telling him of our present so that he can make plans for leaving. Time is getting rather short, and he will have a number of arrangements to make.
We're looking forward to our California trip very very much. We'll be glad to see you.
Incidentally, I see Linda in one of the pictures. I didn't even know she was home. I'll be glad to see her, too, especially since we have had practically no communication for two years.
Much love,
Linus
