- Letter from Beatrice Wulf, Secretary to LP, to Dr. Solomon Schwartz, The Jewish Hospital of Brooklyn, RE: Has noticed that after speaking on the phone with Dr. Albert Sobel in July, LP had written down October 23 as the date for his talk at the Jewish Hospital, but Schwartz says October 30 in his letter. Either of the dates would be satisfactory; October 30 would be preferable. Would like to know which of the two dates has been chosen for LP's talk. Dear Dan:
I am pleased to have your letter. I hope that you will continue to write to me about once a year. I am afraid that if I were not to answer your letter now, I would never get around to answering it.
I have made some progress in revising "The Nature of the Chemical Bond," and I hope to have the job done within another year.
I should like to accept your invitation to me to lecture to your group sometime. I do not know when it will be, however. I find that I am having more and more difficulty in getting the things done that I want to do - probably largely because there are so many things that I want to do. I remember Bawn as a lively fellow.
Peter is not getting his Ph.D. in Cambridge. Also, he is married, to a Welch girl, who was a student at Girton College, and he and his wife have a baby, about a week old now. I am not sure what he plans to do during the coming year.
As to my coming to England, I have agreed to give a talk, next summer, at a meeting of the British Gelatin and Glue Research Association, at a meeting in London, but I think that it is likely that I shall stay in England for only a couple of days, because I have agreed also to spend a month in France, talking with people in the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, and also to go to a meeting in Moscow.
With best regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling:W
