Dear Dr. Webb:

I am sorry that I have delayed in answering your letter of 28 August.

I may say that of the 211 Ph.D.'s in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology, 97 are now located in states east of the Rockies. The percentage is, I think, approximately the same for masters and bachelors as for doctors.

In view of this fact, I am pleased to know that you are extending your recruiting activities to include the California Institute of Technology. Our Placement Office has told me that Dr. Rogers will be here during the early part of December for interviewing. If he has time I hope he will drop in to see me.
