Dr. E. N. C. Andrade
The Royal Institution
21, Albemarle Street
London, W. 1
England
Dear Andrade:
I trust that you received my cable, as well as my earlier letter.
My situation at present is that I have hope that I shall be in England in May, and I think that the probability is great enough to justify my planning to present the Friday evening discourse on May 16. There is, however, some chance, as stated in my earlier letter, that I shall not be able to present the discourse, and it was for this reason that I wrote to you. A significant increase in the probability of my being there caused me to send the cable. I am afraid that I cannot estimate these probabilities numerically at the present time.
Under these circumstances I shall understand your action if you decide to make another arrangement immediately for the May 16 discourse. Nevertheless, I hope to come to England, and I hope that I may give the discourse at that time.
Cordially yours,
Dictated by Linus Pauling
