- Letter from LP to Henry Allen Moe, John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, RE: Informs him that he has met Dr. Carrol Richardson
and Richardson made a very good impression on him. Comments that he did not get to talk with him about his Guggenheim fellowship
proposal but that if it is scholastically worthy, advises that Richardson be awarded a fellowship. Discusses the current situation
of Richardson and what event put him into it, i.e. that he was ousted from his job at Oberlin College because of his support
for Dr. Goslin, superintendent of the Pasadena School District, who was fired because some of the locals wanted to cut school
taxes and thereby cut school activities; Goslin disagreed and the group pressured the school board to release him. [Note from
Moe to LP, December 28, 1951] [Filed under LP Science: (John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, 1946-1952), Box #14.014, Folder #14.6]
