  • Letter from Robert Corey, Caltech, to L. E. R. Picken, Department of Zoology, University of Cambridge, cc: LP RE: Says that they have obtained no patterns similar to his. Discusses his plans to take a few more photos and then to return Picken’s specimen. States that he made copies of Picken’s photos, but asks to keep the originals for another month. [Letter from LP to Picken, June 12, 1951] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (P: Correspondence, 1951), #312.16]
  • Letter from LP to Eugene G. Rochow, Department of Chemistry, Harvard University, RE: Asks about his recent lectures in which he describes LP’s explanation of the low temperature coefficient of viscosity as being incorrect. LP says that there is no evidence to suggest his theory is wrong, and good reason to doubt the contrary suggestion made by Roth and Harker. LP goes on to explain the exact flaws with the Roth and Harker theory. He asks Rochow to tell him what he thinks of the matter. [Letter from Rochow to LP, August 1, 1951] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (R: Correspondence, 1951), #340.16]
  • Letter from LP to Dr. Louis Levin, Biochemistry Branch, Office of Naval Research, Navy Department RE: Notifies him as to the immediate needs of the lab regarding funding for the research project on protein structure. Explains that they have made some discoveries in their recent work which persuade them to think that they should not put this research on hold. Handwritten note in top right corner: “office copy return to BW please.” [Memo from LP to Walker October 30, 1951] [Filed under LP Science: (Office of Naval Research: Correspondence, Memoranda, Notes and Assorted Materials re: “the Structure and Properties of Proteins and Synthetic Polypeptides”, Contract Nonr 220(05) (Chemistry 32), 1951-1963), Box #14.032, Folder #32.1]
