Says that in 1950 he brought this matter up with Dr. Beadle who appointed a committee to look into the matter. Eventually, Hatcher received notice that his work might still make an acceptable thesis. So, by March 1, 1951 the outline of the thesis was completed, yet after waiting 14 months to hear from the committee, he still has to write a thesis and pass an oral examination in just 2 weeks.
