- Letter from Alden H. Emery, Executive Secretary, American Chemical Society, to Dr. J. C. Warner, Department of Chemistry,
Carnegie Institute of Technology, RE: Thanks him for his comments regarding the report of the Conner Committee. However, writes
that the change of “the President” to “the President or his deputy” where responsibility to the president has been given cannot
be done due to protocol, legislative precedent, and perhaps the law. Also writes that he disagrees regarding waiting to publish
the proposed plan or the Clark letter until the plans of the four societies working together are in conformity due to several
listed reasons. [Filed under LP Science: (American Chemical Society: Correspondence, 1950-1964), Box #14.006, Folder #6.3]

of considering this problem. They have developed a report, which has been approved by the Executive Committee of the Board,
