  Nickel alloys with molybdenum and wolfram

  Hansen, in discussing the nickel-wolfram system, points out that Ni₆W seems to be formed at 910°, 600° below the melting point of the alloy. An x-ray investigation is mentioned in Strukturbericht, in which the authors report Ni₆W to have just the A(I) structure of nickel with no superstructure. It has been suggested that they may not have annealed the samples properly. Another author mentioned by Hansen has reported the formation of Ni₁₆W and Ni₆W at the melting point, showing up by maxima in the liquidous curves.

  I propose that you make alloys with the composition Ni₆W, Ni₁₂W, Ni₁₆W, Ni₆Mo, Ni₁₂Mo. These compounds of molybdenum and nickel have not been reported in the literature.
