Dear Stanley:
I was pleased to receive your letter of May 2, and to know that you are getting along well in Sweden, and have enjoyed your year there.
I am also interested to learn about the job that Professor Tiseluus has offered you for the winter 1949-50, and your plans for Mrs. Swingle and the children to remain in Sweden next year.
I think that the experience of a year with Professor Tiselius should be a valuable one for you, and that it is well worth while for you to accept appointment, if you are interested in it. Moreover, it occurs to me that there might be good reason for you to take this appointment for the year 1948-49, if it is open to you. It seems a shame for you to have to leave your family and return to Pasadena at this time. I feel sure that permission to post-pone your year in Pasadena until later could be obtained, and we are going to be so crowded during the coming year that the following year, when perhaps we shall have a new laboratory at least under construction, might be a better one.
Please let me know what your plans are.
Sincerely yours,
