Dear Professor Heyrovsky:
I thank you very much for your kind letter of congratulation on my receipt of the Davy Medal. I am very greatly pleased to have been given this fine honor.
I think that it would be good for you to plan to visit the California Institute of Technology in the spring of 1949 during your American trip, staying for two weeks or a month, and discussing your work in polarography and related fields with our staff members and students. I do not think that it would be wise to plan to have you give a series of lectures, but I would like to ask you to present a seminar talk and perhaps a second one. We shall be glad to pay the cost of your board and room at the Athenaeum, and to provide the sum of one hundred dollars toward your travelling expenses.
I am getting along all right at Oxford now— my lectures begin next week. My wife and three younger children are here, and we have found a small house, into which we shall move in a few days. We send our very best wishes to you and Mrs. Heyrovsky for the future.
