Dear Sagre:
In preparing an article on the periodic law for the Encyclopedia Britannica, I have included the names technetium and astatine and their symbols Te and At. I have not, however, given a name to element 87. I note in the December issue of The Journal of Chemical Education a reproduction of a periodic table, on advertising page xxiv, which gives the symbol Fa for element 87.
It occurs to me that you might have named this element, as well as the other two, and I am accordingly writing to ask you if you could tell me what the name of the element is, to which this symbol pertains, and whether or not you have named it, and, if not, who did so.
With thanks, I am
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling
