New York, New York
Dear Paul:
I had heard that you were now on the Columbia project, and I am glad to know your address. I may he able to see you in January or February—I plan to be in New York then in connection with the Guggenheim meetings, but I am so busy during the two days of these meetings that I may not be able to do more than to say hello to you.
We are all getting along pretty well. I am still sticking to my program, and it seems to be good for me. Ava Helen is in Portland now, her mother having died day before yesterday.
The chances of your picking anybody up here are pretty slim; however, once and a while it seems wise for some reason or another for a man to make a change from one project to another and from one place to another, and if any one of the people here gets into this situation I shall keep you in mind and let you know about him. We have just sent several very good men off to one of the western variants of your project. We are, of course, interested in hiring people also—if you think that it would be good for one of your people to come West, let me know; perhaps I could use him on our project, which has expanded.
Sincerely,
Linus Pauling
