Executive Secretary

Dear Dr. Stewart:
We have received the enclosed inquiry concerning the oxygen meter. If your office will give us permission to discuss it with Major Ribal or other responsible representative of the Fourth Antiaircraft Command we shall do so.
Do you see any objection to modifying the classification of this instrument in whatever way may be necessary to give us continuing permission to discuss the meter with any responsible representative of the armed services to whom it may be of interest? If there are no objections to this, such permission would probably facilitate the application of our instrument to war problems.
If this latter question requires some time to decide, will you please send us your decision with regard to Major Ribal first?
Very truly yours,
Linus Pauling
