Dear Dr. Tsuchiya:
I am sending separately our reprints on the formation of antibodies. I am sorry that reprints of my 1940 paper are not available.
The answer to the question you ask in you letter is the following. The first dialysis of our material against sodium chloride removes the free dye, present in solution. The dialysis against haptene solution removes the dye combine with antibody, the haptene replacing the dye. The final dialysis then removes the haptene.
Very truly yours,
Linus Pauling
