Dear Dr. Brown:
I have been interested to see your paper on etherates of boron fluoride. It seems to me that the discussion which you give on pages 15 and 16 is about as satisfactory as can be given at the present time. It would be nice if you could give a structural interpretation of the differences in the ΔH and ΔS values for methyl ether and ethyl ether. But I am afraid that present knowledge of molecular structure is not yet great enough to permit this to be done with confidence.
I do not remember whether or not Stuart presented arguments to show that isopropyl ether should have a configuration similar to the normal configuration of ethyl ether with attached methyl groups sticking out to the sides. If this is so, you might mention it on page 16.
