Dear George:
I was pleased rather than disappointed that you prefer Dr. Sturdivant and me to come to Bruceton later in the summer than July 15. Unless you have other preferences, we shall plan to leave here early in August, arriving in Bruceton perhaps the 8th or 10th of August. I think that it would be desirable for me to be back in Pasadena by about September 20th.
I am looking forward very much to seeing you after your return from England, and in the meantime to receiving the long letter which you mentioned.
Cordially yours,
Linus Pauling

- Letter from LP to Professor AJ Haagen-Smit RE: Answers a question from Haagen-Smit regarding a letter sent to LP by Warren Weaver that states: "The Institute, at the time this grant was negotiated, did not undertake any formal obligation for the continuation after the grant of the support of the biological assistantships. Neither, it should be emphasized, did the Rockefeller Foundation assume any obligation for this purpose. I do not know whether Professor Morgan is still actively handling such matters, but I am sending a copy of this letter to him and to Dr. Millikan as a reminder of the fact that our support of the biological assistantship terminates in the spring of 1944" [Filed under California Institute of Technology: Materials re: Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 1933-1963, No Date: Box #1.024, Folder 24.9]
