Dear Miss Henley:
I have wanted to have the pleasure of coming to see you, but I am allowed to be up for only a short period each day, and have not found time to come; I am accordingly writing to you now instead.
My wife and I have, with reluctance, decided to send Peter to Flintridge next year, where he has a scholarship. This decision is due in part to our feeling that the instruction in the sixth grade at Polytechnic is not quite up to the high standards of that in other grades. We have liked Poly very much, and feel that Peter has got a great deal of good from his years with you.
I would like to request that, if it be possible, the scholarship which you had kindly arranged to be offered Peter for the coming year be transferred to Linda. I shall be very glad to hear from you as to what can be done about this.
With my very best regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling
