Professor Paul H. Emmett
The Johns Hopkins University
School of Engineering
Baltimore, Maryland
Dear Paul:
I have just returned from a fifteen-day stay in San Francisco, to be looked over by Dr. Thomas Addis of the Stanford Medical School, who is an authority on nephritis. He has put me on a rigid diet and told me that I should continue to do my work but keep warm and not exert myself physically any more than necessary, and he says that I should ultimately get rid of the trouble completely. I am sure now that I shall not be able to attend the Hopkins Conference. I do not know yet whether I shall have to cancel my lectures at Chicago or not.
I want to thank you again for your kindness in presenting your talk in New York. I hope that I shall some day have an opportunity to talk about you in the same way.
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling
