Dear Andy:
I was glad to receive your letter and to know that you and Dr. Mack are pleased with your new posts.
Jack Sherman was out to see us about a month ago. He seemed to be reasonably happy, although still somewhat upset by his brother's death. Shaffer and Hughes are both hard at work, studying the structure of crystals with x-rays, and with Spitzer we have quite a Cornell group here.
We moved into our new house last March, and are pleased with it, although the grounds are still in their original wild state. I hope that you and your wife will come west on a vacation trip some time and see our house and our laboratory.
With best regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling
