Mr. Grice Axtman
California Institute of Technology
Pasadena, California
Dear Mr. Axtman:
I have again looked into the question of providing proper supervision for your proposed work in organic chemistry laboratory this summer, and have reached the conclusion that, considering the necessity for suitable supervision and the amount of interference involved with Mr. Pressman's work, the payment for this service should be $15.00 a week, as reported in my earlier letter to you.
However, there is some possibility that Mr. Billheimer may wish to carry on the same kind of work in which case an arrangement could probably be made for each of you to pay a smaller amount than $15.00. If you would care to discuss this further please get in touch with Professor Lucas.
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling
