Dear Lynn:
Thanks for your letters regarding Nordsieck and Breckenridge.
Spitzer is getting along quite well here, and is, I think, a satisfactory graduate student.
I am glad to learn of your work on potassium hetafluocolumbate and the molybdenum cyanides. The only comparable work under way here is that of Helmholz, who has just finished determining the structure of Nd(BrO3)3•9H2O. He and a student named Rogers are also working on KIO2F2. Most of the crystal structure work here is now in the organic field, such as the amino acids.
Our house is almost completed. We may be able to move in a couple of weeks, and we are anxious to do it. The big wind which blew last week blew down about four trees in our yard on Arden Road but did not do any damage in Sierra Madre Villa, which is somewhat protected by the mountains.
With best regards to the Family, including Davy, I am
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling
