- Letter from LP to Dr. Thorfin R. Hogness. [Filed under: H: Individual Correspondence, Box #162, Folder #162.5]
September 8, 1938
Professor Thorfin Hogness
Department of Chemistry
University of Chicago
Chicago, Illinois
Dear Thorfin:
I have a man, John N. Wilson, working on the theory and practice of chromatographic analysis. I remembered that a student with you was carrying on similar work a couple of years ago but I have forgotten his name. Could you tell me whether an account of his work was published, and if not, whether a dissertation or other report is available?
We are trying to develop the chromatographic technique for the purpose of separating mixtures of amino acids and peptides.
I trust that you have been having a good time in Michigan. We have been hard at work on plans for our new house, and now the contractors are getting ready to put in their bids for its construction.
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling
