I am afraid that I shall have to withdraw my invitation to stay with us as a house guest. We have a new baby in the family, born last week, and my wife's health has not been as good as usual, so that it seems wise for us to live as simple a life as possible during the next few weeks. I am sure that pleasant quarters are available at the Athenaeum, and if you would write to me as soon as you learn exactly when you are to arrive here, I shall reserve a room for you there. If you come by train from the North, please let me know the time of your arrival so that I can meet the train at Glendale.
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling
