You may, of course, use a quotation from my letter in your paper if you wish to. The word "larger" which you changed to "smaller" should, I think, be "larger". I mean by my statement that the distance of closest approach of one molecule containing a double bond to another molecule containing a double bond is larger than the distance of closest approach of two saturated molecules. I took the liberty of changing the word "smaller" back to "larger" in the manuscript itself when it was sent to me a day or so ago by Professor Lamb. I recommended, of course, that it be published. In regard to your quotation from my letter, I think that it might be enough to quote only the first paragraph. The second paragraph, dealing with the distance between atoms bonded together is not of as much direct significance to your work as the first; I included it mainly in answer to your question in your letter to me.
With very best regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling
