Dr. M. Gomberg,
President of the American Chemical Society,
University of Michigan,
Ann Arbor, Mich.
Dear Professor Gomberg:
I am indeed happy to have been chosen as the recipient of the "American Chemical Society Award in Pure Chemistry, Initiated by A. C. Lengmuir," which I accept with pleasure.
In the rules concerning the prize I see that a paper or lecture is to be given at the Buffalo Meeting. Would you please let me know how long a paper I should prepare and before what gathering it is to be delivered? I should be glad also to have your advice as to the subject of the talk - should it be, say, a general review of all the work I have been doing on the nature of the chemical bond?
I am looking forward to seeing you again in Buffalo.
Very sincerely yours,
LP: M
