Pauling writes to discuss recent research on the structures of topaz, tungsten and the molybdenum compounds, the publication
of Pauling's paper on the structure of complex crystals, and his ideas on a possible structure for the rare-earth sesquioxides.
Pauling also expresses his excitement at Bragg's mention of diopside.
