Linus Pauling: What do I like about being a chemist? I think there are two things. I like to understand the world, I like to learn about
new ideas. And as a chemist I have, and a physicist too because I think I can say I'm a physicist as well, I have a background
of knowledge that permits me to appreciate the new ideas, the new discoveries that are made by other people, not just by myself,
but by other people. But I also like very much having new ideas myself or making discoveries myself. This pleases me immensely.
I like to think about problems, look at them in different ways and finally get an answer to them. So I've had a very fortunate
life that...and in addition I like teaching. I've enjoyed teaching chemistry, elementary chemistry and advanced chemistry,
for many years. I've really been fortunate to be able to do all these things.
