Dear Linus:
Harvey Itano and I have been collaborating recently on some further studies with normal and sickle hemoglobins, concerning
their dissociation and association in acid solutions. We find that mixtures of A, S, and C hemoglobins, dissociated and then
re-associated, form no electrophoretically distinct hybrids. We thought that you would be interested in these results and
are enclosing a manuscript which we are about to submit to Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. [handwritten: "to WAS 2/31/58"]
Both Harvey and I are planning to attend the San Francisco A.C.S. meeting next month, and Ruth and I hope to spend a little
time with her folks in Sierra Madre before the meeting. I will drop in then and visit.
We are all very excited by the density gradient sedimentation studies, which are certainly beautiful. Frank Stahl visited
Yale a few weeks ago, and we had a stimulating time.
With best regards, and looking forward to seeing you
Sincerely,
S. J. Singer
