You can use OSU Libraries Online Catalog to find books, journals, microforms and videotapes. You can use our electronic databases to find individual articles. Ask at the Reference Desk if you need help.
You are welcome to make copies from books and journals. We have copy machines on every floor. We charge seven cents per page. Copies from microforms are ten cents per page.
Most computers on the second floor are connected to a printer. If you are not an OSU student, you need to purchase a printing card in order to print from the Internet, databases and online catalog. We charge 7 cents per copy. You can also login with your ONID account, it will automatically charge to your account.
You can purchase a copy card on the second floor by the phone booths or in the photocopy center on the main floor. You need to pay one dollar to purchase the card and then add money on top of that. If you have a student ID card you can add money to it instead. We have one coin operated machine.
If you are an OSU employee or student and we do not have the book or journal you are looking for in this library, we can borrow from other libraries for you through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Please go to the reference desk for help. Ask at the Reference Desk about for registering with ILL using your ONID account.
At The Valley Library we subscribe to newspapers from many foreign countries. We might have a newspaper from your home country. They are shelved in the newspaper room. You can get more details from http://osulibrary.oregonstate.edu/research/guides/news.html.
We also have a service known as SCOLA that broadcasts news from around the world in the language of origin. It is housed right next to the newspaper room.
If you lose something in the library, you can check at the circulation desk to see if anyone has turned in the item.
