OSU Libraries now subscribes to the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics Online (http://proxy.library.oregonstate.edu/login?url=http://www.hbcpnetbase.com).

This online version of the 90th edition of the Handbook of Chemistry and Physics provides broad coverage of all types of physical science data commonly encountered by scientists and engineers.

New Collections at the Center for Research Libraries

The Center for Research Libraries has announced its most recent purchases of primary source materials. It's an eclectic mix, ranging from Missionary Society Papers to facsimiles of significant post-war Japanese manga artists to the 1939-1949 issues of The Sacramento Bee, a newspaper known for its support of workers' rights and environmental protection. Free books! Greg Mortenson's Three Cups of Tea

But…aren’t all the books in the library free?

Yes, but this is a copy of Greg Mortenson’s Three Cups of Tea that is yours to keep.

What’s the catch? These books are for COCC and OSU-C students who are interested in participating in the upcoming Season of Nonviolence programming. There are guest speakers, book discussion groups, and even a visit from the author on the calendar. Swing by the library’s circulation desk with your student ID, sign up for a discussion group and pick up a copy of the book to read over winter break.

Journal Cancellations 2010

Thanks in large part to your feedback, OSU Libraries has been able to identify the necessary cancellations that will allow us to meet the Library’s expected budget shortfalls in fiscal year 2009-2010.

The list of cancellations identified for FY2009-2010 is now on the OSU Libraries’ Collections Review page. These reductions will take effect on January 2010.

Movie and discussion: Children of the Camps

In conjunction with Oregon Reads and the Deschutes County A Novel Idea, COCC is sponsoring this film which follows the lives of adult Japanese American men who were placed in the U.S. internment camps during World War II as children. A discussion to follow the film.

3 Hour Group Study Rooms can now be reserved online

As a direct result of patron requests, OSU students and Faculty can now make reservations for a three hour Study Room in the Valley Library through the Library catalog. A title search using Valley Rooms will display 3 Hour Study Rooms, or use the link provided above.

One advanced booking per person, per day is allowed.

3 Hour Group Study Rooms may be booked fourteen days in advance.

Keycards are available for check out at Circulation.
