The OSU Libraries demonstrates its commitment to students' lifelong learning and academic excellence through the promotion of information literacy--the ability to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively. The OSU Libraries' Instruction program is committed to helping OSU students refine these crucial skills and develop an understanding of the impact of information. Working in partnership with OSU colleges, departments, and programs, OSU's librarians design online learning tools, create inquiry-based assignments, teach classes, provide individual research consultations, and develop curricula. In all of these activities librarians take a learner-centered approach, incorporating a variety of collaborative and active learning techniques. OSU librarians respect the knowledge and experience students bring to their research and reinforce the understanding that research is a dynamic, epistemic, and recursive learning process. Students who successfully master these research skills will be lifelong learners, able to meet the challenges of their 21st century world.
