Call for OSU Libraries & Press Undergraduate Research Interns

OSU Libraries & Press seeks an undergraduate intern for Summer term 2014 for a project of adding new features to OSU's ScholarsArchive under the supervision of the project manager. He/she will be responsible for designing/creating web pages, conducting usability/feature tests, and writing software scrips for the website. The skills required for this position include CSS, HTML5, and jQuery. However, any undergraduate student who is interested in web development and has a strong desire to learn is welcome to apply. In addition, the recruited intern will be paid to spend first three weeks to enhance his/her programming skills guided by the project manager.
OSU Libraries & Press seeks an undergraduate intern for Summer Term 2014 to assist in the processing and description of Gerald W. Williams Collection photograph albums that relate to the U.S. Forest Service, and Pacific Northwest forestry and environmental history.  The intern will review photographs, analyze the content, conduct outside research as required, select photographs for digitization and write narrative descriptions that synthesize the content. This is a part-time internship (10 hours a week), paying $10.00 per hour.



To be eligible for the for an internship in the OSU Libraries and Press, individuals must:

  • Currently be enrolled as a student (at least part-time) at Oregon State University in any discipline (including all branch and e-campus students)

Evaluation Criteria

Applicants will be selected based on their letter of submission that includes:

  • Their expressed interest in the project
  • The skill the intern brings to the project
  • The skills the intern seeks to develop as a result of being involved in the project

Submissions Requirements

Each applicant must submit a completed undergraduate internship packet.

Application Deadline and Award Notification

The application deadline is May 14, 2014.  Neither incomplete applications nor late submissions will be considered. Once the deadline has passed, the internship supervisor will begin evaluating the applicants and select qualified individuals for interviews.  Award notifications will be sent by May 30, 2014.
