Finding Magazine or Journal Articles on Your Topic

As you learned in the section on finding books on your topic, the OSU libraries catalog will help you find books and titles of magazines or journals on your topic that the Valley Library owns. The catalog will NOT help you find out who published a particular article on your topic, in what issue it was published or on what pages it appeared. For this task, your time will be better spent searching in an article database.

What is an article database?

Article databases and periodical indexes help you find articles from magazines or journals related to your topic. Electronic article databases allow you to type in search words and will show you information about articles that contain those words. Some may include the full text (with or without the graphics) of articles while others provide only a citation for the article.
