After you have determined your topic and audience you need to know what sources are available. Are they readily available in a library near you? What do you need to support your research--that is, what kind of information do you need? (e.g. statistical data, theoretical arguments, case studies etc.)

Always remember, reference staff in any library are trained to help you retrieve information. Check with the staff at the reference desk if you need assistance.
