“Open Access” (OA) refers to the free, immediate, online access to the results of scholarly research, and the right to use and re-use those results as you need (with attribution). It has the power to transform the way research and scientific inquiry are conducted. It also has direct and widespread implications for academia, medicine, science, industry, and for society as a whole.

Monday,
October 22, 10:30am-12:30pm: Open Access Table --Linus Pauling Institute. Here is chance to talk with library faculty about OA. Bring questions and learn how you might want to be involved.
Tuesday,
October 23, 11:00am – 1:00pm: Open Access Table --Market Place West. Here is chance for undergraduates as well as faculty to learn more about OA and also the Open Educational Resources (OER) movement.
Wednesday,
October 24, 11:30-1pm: Open Access Week Webinar - Willamette Room East at the Valley Library. The copyright language that spells out whether the public will have access to specific material can be buried and cryptic. Copyright authority Kenneth D. Crews, shows you how you to facilitate access to your work by being proactive.
From 11am-1pm, Open Access Table --Java 2 in the OSU Libraries. Talk with a librarian about the ScholarsArchive@OSU and any questions you may have about open access and how it affects you.
Thursday, October 25: Come by the library in the main foyer to view several short videos on Open Access.

26, 1:30pm -3:00pm: Cable Green Lecture:Expanding the open agenda: From open access to an open education (2nd Floor Library Rotunda)
Dr. Cable Green is Director of Global Learning for
Creative Commons. He is responsible for setting strategic direction and priorities to build a global movement that will enable robust practices and policies for the free sharing of education and learning assets.
As part of this program we will also
announce our 2012 Open Access Hall of Fame inductees.
