Gallery of the Presidents of Oregon State University

Technical Note

Since its designation as a land-grant institution of higher learning in 1868, Oregon State University has been led by 17 presidents, including 4 acting presidents. Each has had a significant influence on the University. This on-line exhibit of the Presidents of OSU consists of images and biographical information from the OSU Archives holdings.

To enter the gallery, click on one of the images above, on a name in the following timeline, or on a hypertext link in the chronological list of Presidents. This will take you to the "exhibit panel" for each president, which includes images, a biographical sketch, and hypertext links to descriptions of Archives holdings pertaining to that president.

This on-line exhibit is an expanded version of a photographic display installed in the reference area of the Archives in early 1995. More information about these men and their presidencies is available from materials held in the OSU Archives.
