Scope and Content Note
The records consist of one series, Minutes, 1895-1912, and pertain to the activities of the society. Included in the minutes is a draft of the organization's constitution and by-laws (pp. 289-296), ca. 1895.
The records are available in both paper and microfilm formats. On film, numbered pages may not be consecutive as blank pages were not filmed.
Historical Note
The Sorosis Literary Society was established on November 15, 1895, for female students of Oregon Agricultural College. The society's programs, often done with another society, included dramatic and comedy performances, recitation, and vocal and instrumental music. The society adopted royal purple as its color. The Sorosis Literary Society probably disbanded during the 1912/13 school year, when the college's literary society structure was reorganized.
