Scope and Content Note
This publication group consists of various publications that have been
issued as part of the OSU Bulletin series since its inception in 1950,
and includes catalogs and other widely-distributed publications.
Of particular note are publications distributed to prospective and newly
admitted students. These include Fields of Study: The Curriculum
in Outline (1951-1954), Entrance Information (1954-1958);
the General Information Bulletin (1960-1985); OSU Update
(1988- 1993), and the Viewbook (1997-present). Also of note
are a series of newsletters issued 2-4 times per year from 1950 thru 1966
which included campus news. The January issue was referred to as
the Dads Day Issue and the April issue as the Mothers Weekend Issue and
included invitations to the parents of students to participate in those
annual events. The OSU Bulletin also includes Students
Enrolled for the 1949/50 thru 1956/57 academic years and booklets for
the School of Pharmacy for 1950/51 through 1962/63.
The Oregon State University Bulletin is currently published four times
per year and includes the General Catalog, Graduate School Catalog,
Summer Session Catalog, and the Student Viewbook. The General
Catalog and Graduate School and Summer Session Catalogs
are kept as separate Publication Groups. Only the Student Viewbook
is kept in PUB 5-24a.
Form of Materials
The paper copies include individual issues and several bound volumes.
One bound volume includes booklets for the School of Pharmacy for 1950/51
thru 1958/59. The remaining 5 volumes include publications for 1965/66
thru 1968/69 and 1970/71 bound by year. These bound volumes have
been retained because one or more of the publications are not available
as individual issues in this or another Publication Group.
The microfilm includes Bulletins 1 thru 126, except for nos. 72 and
79. Approximately half of the items on the microfilm are available
in paper form in this or another Publication Group.
