Scope and Content Note

The Annual Cruise, the yearbook for the College of Forestry, was published annually by the Forestry Club. It includes articles on forestry topics, information about and photographs of forestry students and faculty, reports on Forestry Club activities, alumni news, and current research.

Form of Materials

Most of the issues published through 1967 are available in both paper form and on microfilm. However, the 1920 and 1923 volumes are available only on microfilm reel 1. Issues published from 1968 through 1975 are only available in paper form.

Historical Note

The Forestry Club was organized in 1906, the same year that a 4-year course in forestry was first offered. The first annual was published in the spring of 1920 with the title Forest Club Annual. In the fall of 1920, the club held a contest to find a more appropriate name. Roger D. Healy, then a junior in forestry, suggested The Annual Cruise and that name was adopted.

The Forestry Club (RG 39) and College of Forestry (RG 139) Records include extensive materials pertaining to the academic and research programs of the College. Some photographs published in the Annual Cruise may be available in the College of Forestry Photographic Collection (P 61).
